Default RA bot?

Has anyone else been noticing a bot in RA that's been playing 24/7 for a couple weeks now?

It's an assassin with crit defenses and death blossom combo that c-spaces once in a while (even in the lobby when it has dishonorable). Don't know if it's okay to post the IGN.

It's pretty obvious that it's a bot, but has anyone else noticed it and is something going to be done about it? >_>

Yes, bots are becoming much more commonly seen in RA. Apart from the assassins, I see monk bots very often. They tend to use mo/me (which will use channeling very often) or mo/a (return on recharge). When you load into the battle the monk bot somehow chooses a person on your team to follow so that you can lead them into the battle.

I'm sure the /report feature is worthless and doesn't do anything, but it's nearly impossible to get your whole team to report a person let alone convince them that the player is a bot.

I met HB bots last weekend too.

It will start with "Let's roll to save time." then roll and after short time it will say gg and leave no matter it win or lose the roll.

I think it is a bot bcos
1. the timing always same everytime i met this name.
2. I try to roll and lose and stay for a while it still say GG and leave if it was human player he/she would start blaming if I lose the roll and didn't leave:P

Only bot ive seen in PvP is one in HB that casted self hurt spells on him and his heros (i assume he was tanking his rating). although i have seen assassins with a similiar combo to the one you mentioned that seem like a bot, although since they were on the opposing team, im not sure.

I had a bot on my team a couple days ago, it was a toucher. Dude just followed the party leader and did nothing but Vamp Touch and Vamp Bite, didn't even bother with Offering of Blood. It was pretty pathetic. Still won two games until we hit the Crag

This one uses burning speed etc to lose - this guy seems to tank down one day and then fight the next day back up.

I dont think the other guy in HB was a bot as he spoke to me a few times - I think he just had the first greeting and actions on macros and was just rolling for the title.

Idid see one in HB over the weekend from Taiwan I think - the person would not move unless/until you moved into targeting distance, then he and the heros would follow the target until someone else was closer.
It was quite funny once Id figured it out to just cap the shrines out of aggro range then watch TV

Yeah, that zkeys are becoming currency means that we'll see more bots farming balth points in RA.

Still, it must be very inefficient. Unless the bot is able to pull its weight (e.g. is an interrupt ranger or prot monk with godly reflexes) teams with bots will hardly ever win, so it'll only get balths from the few kills the team manages despite being crippled by having a bot. But I suppose it eventually adds up.

One kill while I'm asleep is more than I'd get otherwise.

Makes sense, if it can be pulled off. I had a Warrior that went 10 wins in RA with me using only [Glyph of Sacrifice][Meteor Shower] and 6 empty slots. Get on a decent enough team and you can actually get quite a bit. Plus, over the course of a night's rest, 6-10 hours, you could probably fill up a smaller amount of Balth faction just by getting lucky.

Numa is most likely correct. I seriously doubt you could get far with a bot on your team, and the little you get probably won't be a whole lot unless it accumulates for a long time.

However, it's also fine to assume that whoever is botting doesn't give a crap, because he/she doesn't have to do a thing while their bot does their dirty work for them. Can't believe people can be so lazy, and are willing to jeopardize their account so they can take the easy road.

I once got 10 wins in RA with a channeling Mo/Me bot, all players in my team including me reported him every game until our 10th win.

I know I've met multiple assassins who play exactly how you describe with maybe just a little less frequency. I don't believe they were bots as most times when I ask them a question, they give me a coherent answer. And I've even had a few conversations.

I've seen what I thought was a botting monk in Team Arena, who healed using Word of Healing. But I couldn't be sure.

I've also seen an assassin who just runs around, cures curses that are on himself, and teleports to random locations. He liked to say "NO SPIK INGLISH" when I asked a question, whether it was whispered to him, normal chat, etc - whether or not it had his name in it. I didn't jump to the conclusion he was a bot because he didn't run into walls really. And...so what if he was? Only cost me a few minutes of time.

I'd rather not report anyone than report someone who I thought was using a bot and really wasn't. The same thing with leachers, I generally don't report anyone as people have to go to the restroom, pick up the phone, get the door, and tons of other things that happen. I know I've had to go away from the keyboard a few times in the middle of a round because of a phone call. I hope if I don't report others, maybe I won't get reported, should I have to leave for a minute.

But hey, that's just my two cents.

Bots are wrong but at least I do not see them like I use to. The old glory farming days. I am not sure how they will ever get totally stopped but I hope you /report to a-net directly via ncsoft.

In before close

It's often hard to tell if a person is a bot or just a REALLY REALLY bad player, since there are so many of those in RA.

Its only when you see the same character/group of characters with the same guild name that ALWAYS seems to be playing that it gets suspicious.

I had one of the Mo/Me bots on my team once. We won the first game and everyone agree to leave on the last second so the bot would be alone in the next game... hehe..

There have been a few pretty clever bots, but for the most part it's just failure as the bots don't actually do anything properly... I'm surprise ANet haven't dealt with it yet, as I imagine the bot has been reported a whole heap :\
